The Ethel Percy Andrus Gerontology Center was erected as a tribute to Ethel Percy Andrus and its mission is to prepare professionals to work in an aging society by providing gerontological education. It is affiliated with the Leonard Davis School of Gerontology at the University of Southern California.

Gerontological Nursing Interventions Research Center

National Association of Geriatric Education Centers
The National Association of Geriatric Education Centers (NAGEC) provides an organization to support the national network of Geriatric Education Centers (GECs) dedicated to improving the education/training, supply, distribution, and quality of health care professionals through strong community-academic partnerships; ultimately to improve the quality of health care for all elderly individuals, including the underserved and minorities.

National Institute on Aging
The National Institute on Aging, one of the 27 Institutes and Centers of NIH, leads a broad scientific effort to understand the nature of aging and to extend the healthy, active years of life. In 1974, Congress granted authority to form NIA to provide leadership in aging research, training, health information dissemination, and other programs relevant to aging and older people. Subsequent amendments to this legislation designated the NIA as the primary Federal agency on Alzheimer’s disease research.

Started from a state of Michigan mandate, the Institute of Gerontology emphasizes increasing knowledge about aging, improving the practice of gerontology, and influencing public policy. They conduct independent and collaborative research and regularly host seminars and other events, which address numerous aspects of aging.
