Careers
In the next 15 years, the number of Americans over the age of 65 is expected to increase by 17 million – a 68% increase from 2006. Community and health care priorities have begun and will continue to reflect that trend. This means more Americans will need skilled nursing care, not just in nursing homes and long term care, but in home care, palliative care, counseling, education, and family support. This creates a tremendous demand for specialized nurses, and the time has never been better to consider a career in the many areas of geriatric nursing. With so many different career paths and nursing job options available, the diversity of options may surprise you!
